SENS LEAF community home energy project
SENS won funding from the Department for Energy and Climate Change for a project that ran Jan-March 2012. Download the project completion report here.
It included:
– door to door energy advice and free energy saving products for households in Staveley. You can download the introductory leaflet and a leaflet on damp, ventilation and draughts and a leaflet on lighting and LED’s.
– events to give home energy advice and distribute chimney balloons in the South Lakes. You can download an advice leaflet on chimney balloons and tips for saving energy at home.
– a feasibility study by Ecoarc looking at ways of saving energy in the Staveley Village Hall and Pavilion. Download a copy of Lucy’s report here.

Burning Wood Well Workshop
A workshop presented by Cumbria Woodlands looking at processing and storing firewood, burning wood well and the Renewable Heat Incentive. Hosted by SENS in February 2012.
Using photovoltaics to generate electricity from the sun
Ever wondered what the costs and benefits really are of installing solar panels on your roof? This evening, hosted in September 2012, cut through the hype by organising visits to houses in the village that had recently installed solar panels. The owners were on hand to explain how much it all cost, how much they are saving on bills and earning through selling their electricity, and to help people to decide whether it might be worth it for them .
