Clean River Kent Summer 2022 Programme

Between May and September 2022 the Clean River Kent Campaign is running a summer programme gathering information from communities along the river, to help us better understand how people use the river.

This information is key for an application to DEFRA to obtain bathing designation for various stretches of the river (Phase 1, 2022 – Staveley & Phase 2, 2023 – possibly Burneside, or a location in Kendal).

For more information about the programme download a flyer here

Tell your friends, family and work colleagues about the programme and encourage them to get involved too!

How you can help:

1. Fill in a short questionnaire

We want to better understand what people feel about the river, and some of the threats it currently faces. The information you provide will be kept anonymous and confidential.

There are just 8 questions which should take about 5 minutes to complete. All completed surveys will be entered into a prize draw (optional) to win a Β£50 high street voucher.

2. Complete a River Kent Summer Activity Diary

We want to know how often you use the river, and for what activities.

We have produced 4 diaries for each of the following months: June, July, August & September.

All you need to do is keep a record of what you have been doing during the month (eg. swimming, paddling, playing, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, running, walking along the river).

Any accompanying pictures, stories, anecdotes welcome too!

Download a diary (Excel spreadsheet) – complete and email each month to:
