Gowan Stop And Go Group
The Gowan Stop and Go group are responsible for the survival and improvement of Staveley's public loos after a threatened closure by South Lakeland District Council. Initial financial support came from a number of local businesses*, the Cumbria Community Foundation and funds held by the former Staveley Village Enterprises organisation.
Since the group took over the building on April 1st 2011, the toilets are opened, cleaned and closed on a daily basis by a team of volunteers, working to a regular rota. In November 2011 the project was 'twinned' with a toilet in rural Cambodia in hope that efforts to provide for basic needs would be matched.
-Winter closing time is approximately 5:00pm
-Summer closing time is approximately 7:00pm though it may be later
Please donate as generously as you can via our fundraising events, the contributions slot (on the right / Ladies side), or direct to our Treasurer, Mrs Sue Blythe, 14 Rawes Garth, Staveley, LA8 9QH. Many thanks from the group.
