Staveley Car Club

Staveley Car Club, run by Social Enterprise Commonwheels, is now up and running in the village. A Pergeot 306, parked at the recycling facility on Main St, is now available to use in the village on a pay-as-you-drive basis for £3.25 per hour plus 19p per mile or £27 per day (24 hours) plus 19p per mile. Residents can to join the car club for a one-off joining fee of £25. Members can book the car (internet, phone) for as little as an hour – walk up, unlock, drive, return, walk away – and get a bill at the end of the month. Car club cars are popular to replace occasionally used cars.

Expanding the network

We are also looking to start a car club in three other communities in or near the Lake District (Windermere, Keswick and one other community).

You could loan your car to Commonwheels for use as a Car Club vehicle in your community. Benefits include:

  • Commonwheels will organise and pay for all insurance, maintenance, repairs and tax
  • You will get 60 hours free usage per month, carried over if not used
  • Car kept within 1km of the owners house – and possibly at your house
  • You will be paid yearly 25% of any hourly usage revenue generated in excess of £2K

Initial 12 month commitment is:

  • owner must book the car along with other members
  • owner must pay same mileage rates as other car club members

Contact Ruth Jennings info@staveley-gti.co.uk or 07851719444 if you would be interested in finding out more about Staveley Car Club or you might be willing to lease your car to the club in exchange for benefits.
