SENS and CRKC are very sad to say goodbye to Quentin Merritt, who passed away recently.
Quentin and Jenny joined our groups when they first moved to Staveley and instantly made a huge impact on our work.
They both sat on the stakeholder engagement group with United Utilities to discuss plans for upgrade works in Staveley. They helped take notes in meetings and contributed significantly to discussions and decision making.
Quentin was instrumental in securing a Community Lottery fund for SENS/CRKC to enable us to cover essential core costs, alongside project work; and he helped with consultation on a Community Energy report for Staveley.
He also submitted the successful bid to Westmorland & Furness Council for over 1000 native trees, which have now been planted up by Cumbria Wildlife Trust, in partnership with local people, creating new woodland for the future on the hillside above Staveley – an amazing legacy.
