Friday marked the final day of Staveley Primary School’s Great Big Green Week activities, with Key Stage 2 pupils embracing creativity, sustainability and fashion as they designed and created their very own sustainable garments ahead of the GBGW celebration with the community fashion show event on Friday 19th June.
The school was joined by volunteers from Sustainable Staveley Pop-up Repair Café, who brought along sewing machines, skills and plenty of encouragement to support pupils as they transformed unwanted clothing items into something new and exciting. Working alongside parents, grandparents and teachers, children redesigned jumpers, T-shirts, jeans and donated fabrics, giving them a new lease of life and showing that pre-loved materials can become something truly special.
The creativity and imagination on display was incredible, with some designs looking ready for Paris Fashion Week or the MET Gala red carpet! Pupils proudly shared their creations, complimented each other’s ideas and celebrated the unique designs their classmates had produced. The atmosphere throughout the day was full of excitement, teamwork and inspiration.
